During summer time we can see different flowers that grow in the garden of our mother or our neighbors. Some of these flowers have vibrant colors and making it more attractive to look at. Flowers that are nice to take picture with because their colors represents life. A flower commonly known as Butterfly Bush or Summer Lilac is an example of flowers that brings colors and attracts different kind of species like bees and butterflies. But scientifically, the botanical name of Butterfly Bush or Summer Lilac is Buddleia.
It has different kind of species that are similar to shrubs. The colors of Buddleia can be normally seen with colors pink, white, red, violet and yellow. Buddleia normally blooms during the season of fall. Bees are attracted to Buddleia because this kind of flower is rich in nectar and smells good. This kind of plant is suitable for drought and wet kind of soil. The ideal soil for Buddleia can be loamy sandy or clay and to ensure that the growth of Buddleia, it should be exposed to full sunlight. This kind of flower can be seen to places such as South of United States, Africa and other places of Asia.
There are varieties of Buddleia that you may see if you visit to different places. Here are some of the varieties of Buddleia that can be soothing to the eyes.
(a) Buddleia davidii. The Adonis Blue which has a botanical name of Buddleia davidii. This variety will look good in smaller gardens and when it blooms some time of the summer season it shows the royal color of blue.
(b) Buddleia Attraction. Wherein the natural color play around violet, red, and purple or can be mixed.
(c) Buddleia Bicolor. From the word itself Bicolor, this kind of variety produces two different kinds of color at the same time. The color is a mixture of lavender and yellow that blooms around the month of July to fall.
(d) Buddleia Black Knight. The Black Knight variety has a deep color of violet and one of the most colorful varieties of Buddleia. It can be seen during July until season of fall.
(e) Buddleia Butterfly Heaven. This variety was discovered by one of the members of the Blooms of Bressingham organization namely Adrian Bloom. It has a color of lilac purple and it grows up to seventy two inches while it spreads around forty-eight to sixty inches.
There are still other varieties of Buddleia that can fit in butterfly garden or in perennial garden. Some of these are: Butterfly Hybrids (have different colors depends on the seedling), Buddleia Dartmoor (deep purple), Golden glow (light orange), Harlequin, Honeycomb, Miss Ruby, Nanho Blue and Nanho Alba (it is a white flower spikes).
Like any other kind of plants Buddleia can grow in outdoors. Seeds of this kind of flower are normally sown in the month of February to March in a loamy sandy type of soil. It is important to do some cuttings of young shoots so that it will grow just in time for the start of Fall.
